Zhuang Zi represents, in addition to Lao Zi and Lie Zi, one of the central figures of Daoism philosophy, which is occupied mainly with overflowing and unnamable Dao. In Daoism, facts describing the life paths of philosophers are usually replaced by legends and tales. Thus, we don’t know much about the author of the book that carries the same name (Zhuang Zi). The Daoist scorn towards authorship represents an enigma for today’s researchers who are trying to establish whether the book Zhuang Zi combines the creativity of one or more authors. The thoughts of this classical work represent a review of both Confucianism and Mohism and are characterized by the picturesque allegorical style.
